STEM Action Center requests modest IT replacement items

The Idaho STEM Action Center presented a request for $9,900 in one-time replacement items to the Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee on Jan. 15 to update a small set of IT equipment used by the agency.
Kevin Campbell, budget and policy analyst with the Legislative Services Office, said the request covers one standard laptop, one high-end laptop, one router, one network switch and one wireless access point plus associated support services. The Office of Information Technology Services reviewed and recommended the replacements, and the governor’s recommendation included the request.
Campbell said the items are replacement (not expansion) items intended to maintain the agency’s current performance levels for STEM education outreach and program delivery. The committee had no substantive questions and the director of STEM AC was present in the room to answer technical questions if needed.
The request is routine IT replacement and will be considered as part of the committee’s maintenance and replacement-item decisions.
