State Brand Inspection seeks six vehicle replacements as part of FY2026 request

The State Brand Inspection Division told the Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee on Jan. 15 it needs $289,200 from the State Brand Board Fund to replace six vehicles and to update a small amount of IT equipment.
Noah Peterson, budget and policy analyst with the Legislative Services Office, said the division requested $282,000 to replace four Ford F-150s and two Dodge Rams that were acquired between 2013 and 2019 and now average about 188,000 miles per vehicle. The remaining $7,200 in the request covers two laptops and two tablets recommended for replacement by the Office of Information Technology Services.
State Brand Inspector Cody Berlisle was present in the hearing room to answer questions. Senator Cook asked why the submission listed specific makes and models; Peterson clarified the listed vehicles are those being replaced rather than a prescribed brand that must be purchased.
The request is funded from the State Brand Board Fund, a dedicated fund. Committee members did not take formal action at the presentation and said they might follow up, but no vote occurred during the hearing.
