Forest Utilization Research seeks workforce manager to train students on new logging technology

Dennis Becker, dean of the College of Natural Resources and director of the program, explained the request: FUR recently acquired about $2,000,000 of advanced logging technology funded from logging proceeds and private industry support and now seeks a workforce development manager to supervise and train students on the equipment and in the experimental forest. Becker said the program is “comprised of several areas” including the Policy Analysis Group, Rangeland Center, University Experimental Forest, Picken (sic) Forest Nursery, Mica Creek Watershed Project and the Wildland Fire Center.
Campbell said the program has 13.28 authorized FTE with a 0.5 FTE vacancy and that roughly 90% of FUR expenditures are for wages and benefits. The requested manager would support FUR’s workforce training mission and supervise student employees working with the new equipment.
