On a separate motion, the committee approved the governor’s reappointment of Kurt Liebeck to the Idaho State Board of Education. Senator Woodward moved to approve the reappointment; Senator Ward Engelking seconded. The chair called for the question and members voted in favor with no recorded opposition.
Later in the meeting Senator Cindy Carlson presented RS 31894, describing it as a ‘‘cleanup bill’’ to clarify language inserted last year that placed parameters around public comment and agenda access at local school board meetings. Senator Woodward moved to print RS 31894 for further consideration; the motion was seconded by Senator Semra and carried with no recorded opposition.
The committee announced it will meet again next Monday; no additional formal actions were taken at this meeting.
