JFAC hears replacement‑item requests from multiple agencies; IPTV items draw scrutiny

- Office of the Lieutenant Governor: LSO analyst Christopher LaHosat presented a one‑time request of $32,600 from the general fund to replace five network switches per the Office of Information Technology Services recommendation. The presentation was brief and no committee action was taken.

- Idaho Public Television (IPTV): LSO staff described two replacement items presented by IPTV: (1) a heavy‑duty pickup (noted in committee discussion as a Ford F‑350 or similar) and (2) a $300,000 governor‑recommended one‑time request to replace portions of IPTV’s automation and network operations equipment that handle recording, playback, routing and statewide distribution of signals (the system also supports emergency broadcast capabilities). Committee members repeatedly requested more specific procurement plans for large hardware packages (IPTV’s $300,000 request in particular) and raised concern that standardized replacement caps in the budget manual may understate current market prices for specialized heavy‑duty vehicles needed for winter/mountain operations.
