His daughter, Megan Helzermann, told the committee that her father preferred discreet, behind‑the‑scenes service and continued participating in board meetings virtually while undergoing treatment.
Senators praised Helzermann’s philanthropic leadership and noted a newly established Hillsboro Hops scholarship in his name that will recognize students who demonstrate community service. The committee voted to advance the resolution with strong support.
