Steve Brown, executive director of utilities for the City of Lake City, said residents should call the Public Works office at (386) 758-5401 to report street repairs and provide the street location, closest cross street and address if available.
Brown said the city asks callers to describe the problem — for example, “a pothole that is roughly 8 inches in diameter and is located on Main Boulevard” — so a ticket can be created and assessed by the maintenance crew. “Tickets then are prioritized by our department. 1 of the most important of which is public safety,” he said.
The guidance is intended to speed repairs by ensuring crews have the information needed to assess and prioritize work. Brown also encouraged residents to download the city mobile app for updates and additional ways to stay informed about city services.
The remarks were delivered in a short video from the utilities department; no formal votes or policy actions were recorded in the transcript.
