Senators asked how the program would be funded. Harris said Idaho already charges a disposal fee when consumers buy new tires and that the pilot would include an additional 50¢ fee per tire to support cleanup costs. Committee questions referenced an informational presentation on the issue that the committee received in a prior year.
Senator Wintrow moved to send RS3214 to print; Senator Bierke seconded. The committee approved the motion by voice vote; the transcript records that one senator asked to be recorded after the voice vote, but the transcript does not provide a roll-call tally.
