Idaho House approves annual drug-scheduling bill under state review process

BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho House on Feb. 3 passed House Bill 29, the state’s annual drug-scheduling bill, using Idaho’s established, independent review process to designate controlled-substance schedules. The measure passed the House 70-0.
Representative, District 33 presented the bill and described it as part of the state’s routine update: "This is the annual scheduling of drugs that we do. This is something that we do every year," the sponsor said, adding that Idaho’s process reviews substances independently rather than automatically adopting federal scheduling by reference.
The sponsor told the chamber the panel that evaluates schedules reviewed the substances and made recommendations. There was no substantive floor opposition. The House approved HB29 and will forward it to the Senate.
