Commissioners approve letter supporting Estacada Lakeshore Trail grant application

The Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to approve a letter of support for the City of Estacada’s grant application to the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department to fund phase 1 of the Lakeshore Trail and Water Access Project.
Toni Holowetzky, director of Public & Government Affairs, told commissioners the grant would fund a trail and viewing platform above Estacada Lake near downtown. Holowetzky said future phases would add stairs and gangways to an in‑water dock; the city expects the improvements to boost downtown visits and tourism, which it said have declined since the COVID‑19 pandemic and the Riverside Fire.
Commissioner Schroeder moved to approve the letter of support and Commissioner West seconded. The clerk called the poll; Commissioner West, Commissioner Schroeder and Chair Roberts voted aye and the motion passed 3–0. The board did not attach conditions to the support letter during the session.
