Kaler said the bill moves section 302 from IDAPA chapter 16‑03‑33 concerning child-support services and the good-cause exemptions that determine whether someone may have a driver's or occupational license suspended for failing to pay child support. “The proposed legislation seeks to move a longstanding provision of administrative rule from the Department's control back into the hands of the elected legislature,” Kaler said.
Kaler told the committee the section has appeared before the Legislature previously, most recently in 2022, and is scheduled for 0‑based regulation next session. A motion to send the bill to the floor with a due-pass recommendation was made and approved by voice vote with no registered testimony in committee. Representative Kaler indicated he will carry the bill on the floor.
