House Bill 66, presented by Chairman Sparks, would require that residential street addresses for county, municipal and other public employees be treated as restricted information similar to protections already afforded to state employees. Chairman Sparks said the request came from the mayor and city administrator of La Vergne, who asked for local employees' residential information to be protected.
The committee asked no substantive questions and voted 14‑0 to move the bill forward to the next stage. Representative Sparks described the measure as a local request intended to shield employee street‑address information from public disclosure in the same way state employees’ addresses are protected.
The bill passed the committee on a roll call vote and will advance to the calendar and rules committee.
