MEDC moves to quarterly meetings; board adopts new schedule

The Montgomery Economic Development Corporation voted on Sept. 16 to change its regular meeting schedule from monthly to quarterly. The new regular meeting dates are the third Tuesday in January, April, July and October at 6 p.m.
During discussion, board members said quarterly meetings would allow staff to consolidate updates and rely on regular check-ins with the newly hired EDC staff member, while special meetings could be convened for urgent items such as property negotiations or time-sensitive contracts. A motion to adopt the quarterly schedule passed by majority voice vote.
The board additionally asked staff to maintain frequent communication with board members between meetings and to schedule regular interim briefings with the newly hired EDC staff member once she begins full-time work (meeting discussion referenced an October 1 start date for a new staff member). The change to a quarterly cadence takes effect immediately; the board retained the ability to call special meetings as needed.
The vote was recorded as passed during the Sept. 16 meeting.
