Gov. Brad Little notifies Senate of two appointments; both referred to committees

BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho Senate on Jan. 14 received gubernatorial notifications that Gov. Brad Little has appointed Christine Starr of Boise as executive director of the Commission of Pardons and Parole and has reappointed Albert Barker of Boise to the Idaho Water Resource Board.
In a letter read to the chamber, Little wrote, “I have the honor to inform you that Christine Starr of Boise, Idaho was appointed as the executive director of the Commission of Pardons and Parole to serve a term commencing 10/21/2024.” The letter also said Barker was reappointed to the Idaho Water Resource Board for a term commencing 01/01/2025 and expiring 01/01/2029. Little signed the correspondence as governor of Idaho.
The Senate clerk filed the correspondence in the office of the secretary and the chamber referred Starr’s appointment to the Judiciary and Rules Committee and Barker’s reappointment to the Resources and Environment Committee. The letters state the appointments are subject to confirmation by the Senate; no confirmation action occurred during the Jan. 14 session.
No debate or public remarks about the appointments appear in the session record. The referral and filing conclude the formal transmission and committee-assignment steps recorded on the Senate floor.
At the time the letters were read, the Senate president presiding over the floor accepted the filings and directed the clerk to place the notices on the Senate record.
