BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho House of Representatives on Jan. 7 adopted its opening-day journal, approved a slate of session attaches and sent several memorials and concurrent resolutions to committee, measures the chamber completed as it opened the 2025 regular session.
The chamber adopted the journal for the House's first legislative day after a motion from Representative Skogg that was seconded by Representative Gannon; the motion passed by voice vote. The House also approved a list of individuals to serve as attaches to the House for the session, and referred House Concurrent Resolution 1 (returned from the Senate) and other items to the Judiciary, Rules and Administration Committee for further processing.
The actions are routine opening-day business that formally records the House's proceedings and places incoming measures into committee for the detailed work that follows. One referred measure, House Concurrent Resolution 2, commends the Boise State University women's volleyball team and cites Idaho's Fairness in Women's Sports Act and a governor's executive order in its text; the resolution and a separate joint memorial were referred to the committee for printing.
House leaders read and approved the names of the individuals recommended to serve as session attaches; the list included Jason Hancock, Alexandra Zulueta, Susan Wurlinger and about three dozen others. The chamber voted to approve the named attaches by voice vote.
Committee meeting schedules and other housekeeping announcements followed. House leaders noted that the House Business, Commerce and Human Resources, Judiciary Rules and Administration, Resources and Conservation and other standing committees would not meet on Tuesday, Jan. 7; the House Appropriations Committee was scheduled to meet Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 8 a.m. in room C-310, and the House Health and Welfare Committee at 9 a.m. in East Wing Room 20. The presiding officer also announced a respectful workplace training session for later the same day and a majority caucus meeting in the afternoon.
The House adjourned its first legislative-day session until 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, after a motion to adjourn passed by voice vote.
