BOISE — Director Alex Adams told the Feb. 26 Joint Finance‑Appropriations Committee that Idaho’s postpartum Medicaid coverage state plan amendment is fully operational and that about 2,800 women had received postpartum coverage under the policy change.
Adams said the Biden Administration rejected a portion of Idaho’s plan that would have aligned coverage with Idaho’s abortion law. “Under the current interpretation, federally, we would have to cover 12 months postpartum coverage following an elective abortion,” Adams said. He added the state filed an appeal on Jan. 20 and that the federal government granted a hearing on the appeal in April.
