JFAC accepts technical corrections to CEC recommendation letter by unanimous consent

Frances Lippett, a budget and policy analyst with the Legislative Services Office, presented corrected language to the Joint Finance and Appropriations Committee on Jan. 13 to ensure the committee's CEC recommendation letter accurately reflected actions taken at the prior meeting.

Lippett said the committee's motion had approved a salary increase for state employees of $1.55 per hour per full-time equivalent (FTE) and that earlier draft language mistakenly included flexibility language that the motion did not adopt. She also clarified that the committee had recommended a 4.5 percent market-based increase for employees on the IT and engineering salary schedule and that this 4.5 percent increase is in addition to the $1.55-per-hour per‑FTE increase.

Representative Petzke asked whether the IT and engineering market increase applied to all IT and engineering staff regardless of agency. Lippett responded that the committee's motion applied specifically to employees on the IT and engineering salary schedule and likely would not include non-classified IT and engineering employees who work for constitutional officers; she said JFAC could consider whether that increase should be limited to classified employees or expanded.

Madam Chair Harmon asked for unanimous consent to accept the technical revisions to the CEC letter. Hearing no objection, she ordered the corrections accepted.

The committee made no other changes during that action. The corrected CEC language will be reflected in the committee's recommendation letter.
