Highlights from the presentations follow.
- Office of the Lieutenant Governor: Asked for $32,600 one‑time from the general fund to replace five network switches, per Office of Information Technology Services recommendation.
- Idaho Brand Inspection: Requested $289,200 from the State Brand Board Fund to replace six vehicles (four Ford F‑150s and two Dodge Rams) with reported mileages between about 170,000 and 222,000 miles; the request also included $7,200 for two laptops and two tablets. Brand Inspection is funded through a dedicated State Brand Board fund.
- Soil and Water Conservation Commission: Requested $40,500 from its fund to replace a light‑duty pickup purchased in 2006; the vehicle had about 84,000 miles at budget submission.
- STEM Action Center: Requested $9,900 for IT replacements (one standard laptop, one high‑end laptop, router, switch and wireless access point); the request was approved by OITS and recommended by the governor.
- Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired: Requested $28,900 from the general fund for desktops, laptops with docking stations, routers, a switch and wireless access points; these were OITS‑recommended replacements.
- Idaho State Lottery: Requested $76,700 from its dedicated fund for server equipment and software, desktops and laptops, and two iMac workstations for marketing design.
Agency presenters and Legislative Services Office analysts emphasized that most requests were routine replacement of aging equipment. Committee members asked for additional documentation in some cases: Senator Cook and others questioned vehicle brand details at Brand Inspection; Senator Wintrow asked staff whether vehicle replacement caps are periodically reviewed for inflation; Mr. Bybee (LSO) said the committee has discretion to adjust caps when necessary.
No formal votes were taken during the Jan. 15 presentations. Each request will return to the committee during the budget‑setting process for final action.
