Dale Macomber appeared before the Idaho Senate State Affairs Committee Friday to discuss his gubernatorial reappointment to the Idaho State Building Authority and to summarize his recent work with the authority.
Macomber told the committee he has lived in the Treasure Valley since 1986, moved to Eagle in 1989 and previously worked for an engineering/contracting firm for 40 years. He said he has served on the State Building Authority for about three to four years and cited recent work overseeing school facilities financing and a new building project for the Idaho Wheat Commission as examples of the authority’s activity.
“...the biggest one, of course, is the school facilities, the billion dollars. We had it in two tranches ... we sold the bonds, got good rates, and so we've got the money given over now to the Department of Education for implementation of the facilities improvements to all of the school districts,” Macomber said.
Macomber described serving on a selection committee for the Wheat Commission building project, saying design is underway, demolition was recently completed and construction is anticipated to begin in the summer.
Committee members thanked Macomber for his willingness to serve. The committee did not hold a confirmation vote during the hearing; the chair said the confirmation vote will be scheduled for a future meeting.
