Committee takes two bills "for the day," chair urges members to communicate quickly

The chair asked members to use limited meeting time efficiently. Using a skiing metaphor, the chair said, "For those of you who have heard people say, don't get ahead of your skis... If you're ahead of your skis, you're aggressively going down the hill, and you're not being ready for the next turn... I say that because in this short session, there are a number of us who have worked very hard on a number of pieces of legislation who are ready to head down the hill, but I do say to all of the members, we have very very few meetings, to conduct our business. So I really urge you, to make sure that you do everything you can in the 24 hours that we of every day, to communicate on these bills and to pursue questions that you may have."
Taking a bill "for the day" is a procedural step that postpones consideration to a later date; the transcript does not specify when or whether either bill will be scheduled again.
