Several routine and staff-requested items were approved by the Clackamas County Board of Commissioners during the April 15 policy session. Most items were handled as motions with recorded roll-call votes.
Justice Reinvestment Program: The board voted 3-0 to support a letter of support for a Justice Reinvestment Program grant application developed collaboratively by the sheriff’s office, the presiding judge and the district attorney’s office. Captain Chris Chandler, who said the application had unanimous approval from the local Public Safety Coordinating Council, presented the item. The board directed that the application and letter of support appear on the consent agenda for the April 24 business meeting for final approval.
Septic and on-site wastewater fees correction: The board voted 3-0 to authorize corrections to two fee amounts in the septic and on-site wastewater program. Dan Johnson, director of Transportation and Development, said the county had discovered two spreadsheet errors after the board’s February 4 action and requested the adjusted fees reflect the full cost of services. The board authorized the corrected fee amounts.
Advisory-board appointments: The board voted 3-0 to appoint four people to the Mental Health and Addictions Council (Beau Brinson, Catherine Legille, Ray Gordon and Adam Caba) and to reappoint Kevin Bailey to the Clackamas County Service District No. 5 Budget Committee. Staff said recruitment opened Dec. 12, 2024 and closed Jan. 31, 2025; recommended candidates were selected from the applicant pool.
County administrator dues: The board voted 3-0 to allow County Administrator Gary Schmidt to pay $1,200 in professional dues to the International City/County Management Association (ICMA); funds were budgeted in county general funds.
All votes were recorded by roll call; the clerk announced each commissioner’s aye vote and recorded the motions as passing 3-0.
