Michael Delano, identified in meeting materials as the cross-country coach at Twin Springs and a school resource officer in the division, requested permission to construct a cross-country course on Twin Springs property.

According to a staff summary presented to the board, Delano provided a GIS map showing a perimeter trail that would require minimal clearing and removal of several downed trees to create a safe running path. The summary said Delano measured the course and believed that two laps would meet the length required by “BHSL” for district cross-country meets; the summary also noted the course could serve as a regular practice site. The request did not include a formal cost estimate.

Board members asked for additional detail on the proposed route and the extent of maintenance or tree removal required. One board member suggested Delano or maintenance staff could come to the next meeting to present exact routing and to explain how much work would be needed. A board member also noted that district maintenance crews will be busy over the summer and suggested community volunteers or third-party services might assist if necessary.
