The County Water District voted to pay a $24,286 invoice for archaeological work on the county-wide cleaner-water extension project and to draw that amount from grant funds.
Staff explained the invoice covers archaeological fees performed earlier in the planning phase by CRA. The district’s consultant/engineer told the board that the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority (KIA) had indicated the draw could be submitted and paid from the extension project grant funds; staff said the district would receive the reimbursement from KIA and then issue payment to CRA.
Meeting attendees discussed grant accounting: staff recited the original grant amount as $3,286,800 and said that after this draw the remaining grant balance would be roughly $3.1 million. The board voted to authorize payment from the grant disbursement; a motion was made, seconded and approved.
Why it matters: the payment clears a consultant invoice tied to project planning tasks necessary for the extension project to move into design and construction steps, including environmental clearances and legal filings. Staff said legal and title searches will be required for future draws and that project work remains in early stages.
Next steps: staff will execute the draw submission to KIA, expect reimbursement within roughly 10 business days, and then issue a check to CRA. Staff also said they will send the board the executed draw and disbursement instructions.
