Hialeah to host ‘government in the community’ event to help small business owners

HIALEAH, Fla. — The City of Hialeah will bring multiple municipal departments and outside partners to a community event tomorrow evening to help residents start or expand small businesses, city staff said during a local radio segment.
City staff described the event as a one-stop opportunity for entrepreneurs to get help with pre-applications, permits and financing. “Nosotros como ciudad creamos una pre aplicación completamente gratis aquella persona que tiene un sueño de abrir un negocio, la llene, vaya a la ciudad, la ciudad le deje saber si en ese lugar puede cumplir sus sueños,” said Jennifer Barreiro of the city’s community services department.
The event is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. at Mylander (named in the radio segment as “Mylander”), where representatives from city licensing, building, zoning and water departments will be present, Barreiro said. Barreiro also said the Miami‑Dade department referenced in the segment would attend.
Valeria García, identified on the program as representing the city finance department, said the session will include presentations and partner organizations that can help with credit and funding options. “Vamos a tener entidades como Brico Capital Financial Finance, vamos a tener a Prospera, tendremos entre ellos a Basile Foundation y muchos más que les van a poder no solamente guiar en el proceso de cómo obtener un crédito en un banco, sino que también por medio de ellos ustedes pueden acceder quizás a muchos fondos que ustedes no conocen,” García said.
Hosts on the radio segment encouraged listeners to take advantage of a free city pre‑application that staff said helps determine whether a proposed location is appropriate for a business before applicants invest in permits or renovations.
