Director’s report: tower repair underway, yard-waste grading fix shared with consultant, $400,000 storm damage assessment submitted to county/state

In the director's report the village’s public-works director summarized operational items and maintenance projects for the committee. The committee received updates on a number of items including emergency repairs, storm damage reporting and staffing.
Tower 1 repair and yard-waste site: Staff reported the emergency repair of a leaking riser pipe on Water Tower 1 began Monday with 7 Brothers as the contractor. The village also completed additional regrading at the new yard-waste facility after staff identified erosion and washouts resulting from a late change that removed proposed asphalt. The consultant (Grama) agreed to pay 60% of the regrading correction costs and the village 40%; the village covered its share from contingency funds.
Storm repairs and FEMA filing: Staff said most storm-damage repairs are complete, including a Rockfield Road culvert replacement and Donjes Bay repairs. The village submitted damage information to Washington County and the state for potential federal public-assistance reimbursement; Germantown’s damage assessment reported approximately $400,000 in municipal damages (the figure excludes some mitigation costs). Staff said a presidential disaster declaration — and any resulting FEMA funding — is pending and will determine reimbursement eligibility.
Operations and staffing: Staff noted arrival of several vehicles (a 2024 patrol chassis, 2025 parks pickup and wastewater pickup pending upfit) and said the village is recruiting to fill 1 highway operator vacancy created by an upcoming retirement; candidates with CDLs are preferred. The director said DPW staff completed fall safety training and that the department expects to keep public services moving as construction punch lists finish.
Other notes: The director said the DNR performed a stormwater audit and staff await the written report. Staff also noted DOT review milestones on nearby state projects (145/Pilgrim roundabout at 90% design) and that Mequon Road resurfacing is scheduled for later years with design planning in 2026.
Ending: The director closed noting the next committee meeting date and said staff would return with updates as permits, construction and recruiting actions proceed.
