Committee introduces RS to issue journeyman card with master electrician license for reciprocity

The House Business Committee introduced RS32160, presented by Representative Kyle Harris, which would require that when an electrician receives a master license the state also issue a journeyman card to preserve reciprocity with other states.
Harris said that journeyman electricians often hold reciprocity agreements in multiple states, but when a journeyman becomes a master Idaho issues only a master credential and not a journeyman card, which can eliminate reciprocity abroad. The RS would have the state issue a journeyman card along with a master license to allow workers to claim reciprocal credentials in other states.
Harris did not have ready answers to a committee question about the fee structure on page 3 of the RS; he said Representative Wheeler authored the legislation and would answer technical fee questions at a hearing. Representative Rasor moved to introduce RS32160; the motion carried by voice vote.
