Elroy said she grew up in Jerome, earned a mathematics degree from the College of Idaho and a master’s in environmental engineering from Idaho State University, and has worked at Micron for more than 20 years in roles including environmental engineer, construction and operations. She currently serves as vice president of global environmental safety, health and sustainability at Micron.
Elroy told the committee her priorities on the board are retaining technical talent at the Department of Environmental Quality and providing effective oversight of contested cases, where the board must evaluate complex, technical evidence. When pressed by Sen. Shippey about agricultural impacts and cloud seeding, Elroy said she is not an expert in those specific areas and deferred to agricultural and meteorological experts, adding she intends to learn more.
Committee members thanked Elroy for her service; the committee did not vote on her reappointment at this hearing and indicated it will consider the appointment at its next meeting.
