Committee to introduce RS32187 to clarify credit-union filing requirements

The measure would clarify where credit unions must file their original articles of incorporation. “There is some confusion if they amended their articles that they needed to send it to the secretary of state, but it never said anything about the original articles,” Ehlers said. “So this just clarifies that, you can file your — you will file your original articles with the secretary of state.”
Sponsor testimony described the proposal as a technical clarification to remove uncertainty within the credit‑union sector about whether original articles must be filed with the secretary of state or only amendments must be provided. No outside witnesses spoke during the meeting on this RS. Committee members did not raise substantive objections during the brief discussion.
The committee approved a motion to introduce RS32187 by voice vote. The motion was presented during the Feb. 7 special meeting and carried without recorded opposing votes.
Other committee business at the start of the meeting included approval of the Feb. 3 and Feb. 5 minutes by voice vote.
