Summary
The board found the property at 551 Toulouse Drive in compliance, reviewed additional accrued fines, and ultimately cancelled additional amounts, leaving no further payment required; staff will provide a release of lien for recording.
The Punta Gorda Code Enforcement Board on Oct. 21, 2025, granted a request concerning additional fines for the property listed as 551 Toulouse Drive and concluded that no additional fine was due.
Meredith Achtenberg, co-compliance officer for the City of Punta Gorda, told the board that a prior order from March 26, 2025, imposed a penalty of $6,200 plus $91.80 in case costs and 9.5% interest; that order had been reduced to $500 plus costs on Aug. 29, 2025, and that reduced amount was paid on Sept. 3, 2025. Achtenberg said staff later discovered additional accrued fines of $10,700 for 107 days of noncompliance between March 27 and July 11, 2025. She said the property was reinspected on Aug. 28 and Oct. 20, 2025, and found to be in compliance; she submitted three photos and an invoice for $42.19 in additional case costs.
Bonnie S. Jacobs, who appeared at the hearing, said she had been ill and had not been in town and sought clarity about what she owed. The board discussed the previously reduced fine and the newly identified additional fines.
A motion to approve the reduction request and treat the additional accrued fines as resolved passed; the board found that no additional fine remained due and that case costs would be reduced to zero for the outstanding matters discussed at the hearing. Nick Clark, Code Supervisor, said staff will prepare a release of lien for Jacobs or her representative to record in Charlotte County public records to clear the title if desired.
The board recorded no additional payment requirement for the respondent and cancelled the outstanding amounts described by staff.
