Tara Malik, a Boise resident and current Your Health Idaho board member, appeared before the Idaho Senate Commerce and Human Resources Committee on a gubernatorial reappointment and described her four years of service overseeing the state health insurance marketplace.
Malik told the committee she has worked to keep the marketplace running “smoothly and at the lowest cost to our consumers” and identified outreach across the state as a continuing challenge. The committee did not vote at the hearing and members said they expect to take a vote at their next meeting, likely the following Tuesday.
Malik answered one substantive question from Sen. Scott Nichols about challenges and goals for the board, saying the principal challenge is expanding awareness of the state-based marketplace and building partnerships to reach more Idahoans. Committee Chair Foreman thanked Malik for her willingness to serve and said the committee would meet again to consider the nomination.
No formal action on the reappointment was taken during the hearing; committee members recorded the testimony and scheduled the nomination for a future vote.
