Break-ins damage Germantown park storage sheds; ATVs stolen from Friedenfeld recovered

Director Stanridge told the commission that an outbound park storage shed had its door destroyed in an apparent forced entry but contained no items of value. Separately, a storage shed and concession stand at Friedenfeld (the football/baseball complex) were broken into earlier this year. "The football program, and baseball, each own 1 [ATV]. They paid for them. They're private items," Stanridge said, adding that the ATVs were recovered.
Staff said the village and youth groups rely on several storage buildings near the Jaguars/baseball field and at the soccer complex; the commission discussed the importance of keeping those sheds secure because tennis and pickleball nets and other seasonal equipment are stored there in the off season.
What’s next: DPW has replaced the damaged door at the outbound park shed, and staff will continue to track vandalism trends and secure storage assets ahead of winter.
