SALEM — During a Feb. 4 work session the Senate Committee on Judiciary voted to introduce LC 4,340 as a committee bill. The LC (legislative concept) summary presented to the committee said the measure would authorize law enforcement agencies to release booking photos to licensed private investigators.
Sen. Thatcher moved to introduce the LC as a committee bill. The committee took a roll‑call vote and the clerk recorded the motion as adopted; senators recorded on the roll as voting “aye” include Senator Bartman, Senator Gelser Lewin, Senator Manning, Senator Plates, Senator Hector Patrick and Chair Brzezinski (recorded text). The committee chair explained that introduction of a committee bill makes that concept available for formal drafting and later consideration but does not indicate a final position on the underlying policy.
The committee then closed the work session and adjourned for the day.
