Taft council approves consent calendar including $240,000 in payments, ordinance update

The Taft City Council on Oct. 21 approved the consent calendar by roll call, enacting minutes of the Oct. 7 regular meeting, authorizing payment of $240,000 in bills and adopting Ordinance 854-25, which updates selected provisions of the Taft Municipal Code to add enforcement provisions.
The consent calendar was presented as routine; staff said items would be enacted by a single roll-call vote unless removed. No members of the public requested removal or commented on the items. Council members moved and seconded the consent calendar. In the roll call, Council member Pryor, Mayor Pro Tem Bryant, Council member Waldrop and Council member Chavera voted yes on all items; Mayor Noor said he would vote yes generally but would abstain from item 10 (the Oct. 7 minutes) because he was not present at that meeting. The consent calendar items therefore passed.
Ordinance 854-25 was approved on second reading as part of the consent calendar; staff included a CEQA finding in the staff report and recommended the ordinance as written. The $240,000 payment authorization was presented as the regular payment-of-bills item and approved on the same roll call.
