Yukon commissioners flag speeding on Frisco Road; 4‑way stop study pending at Kingsridge

Commissioner Peters on Oct. 14 told the Yukon Traffic and Transportation Commission that motorists are regularly exceeding posted limits on Frisco Road — often driving “70 to 80 miles an hour” — and urged enforcement to slow traffic.
“There’s been some people that exceed the speed limit out there that’s posted,” Peters said, adding the problem occurs “all times of the evening.” The commission discussed increased enforcement through the city’s public‑safety partners as an immediate response option.
Commissioners also asked about a traffic study requested earlier in the year for a potential four‑way stop at Kingsridge Street near Southwest Covenant School. The commission had asked staff to study conditions when school was in session; at the Oct. 14 meeting a commissioner reported no study results yet and no change to the intersection. “We requested a study to be done when school was in session to see if there’s justification,” a commissioner said; staff did not present a completed report at this meeting.
No formal action was taken on either item. Commissioners noted that traffic being rerouted west of town has increased volume on local routes, making enforcement and design responses more urgent in affected neighborhoods. The commission reminded attendees that the body’s next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3.
