Bluebird Educational Foundation donated 16 refurbished musical instruments to band programs across St. Lucie Public Schools, a foundation representative told the school board.
At the meeting, the foundation’s representative thanked district leaders and the board and highlighted a partnership with Melody Music of Vero Beach, whose staff repaired and tuned the instruments. “They are passports to self expression, discipline, and joy,” the representative said.
The presentation identified multiple recipient schools and named students and teachers who received or represented their schools during the distribution. Schools and programs receiving instruments included Northport K‑8, Dan McCarty Middle School, the Creative Arts Academy of St. Lucie (CAST), Saint Lucie West K‑8, Okayama K‑8, and others. The board invited representatives and music teachers forward for photos as the instruments were presented.
Board members and district leaders praised the partnership and asked residents who have gently used instruments to donate them to Bluebird so the foundation can continue supplying local students.
The donation was made during the meeting’s special orders of business; no board action was required to accept the gifts.
