Jackson County approves Drug-Free Communities coordinator contract; payroll and reimbursement schedule clarified

The Jackson County Board of Supervisors on Oct. 21 approved a contract under the Drug-Free Communities grant to fund a county coordinator, naming Don Nelson as the DFC grant coordinator.
Shelly Hoy of the auditor’s office said staff made a few corrections to the draft contract submitted the previous week. The changes included correcting the contract’s total to match the DFC grant budgeted salary and removing office-space and internet costs from the contract because the county will execute a separate lease agreement with Together We Build (TWV) for that space.
Auditor staff explained the federal reimbursement schedule discussed at the meeting: the county will submit a claim for recent payroll and benefits in the next claim period; the board will approve claims on Nov. 4 and, if approved by the federal reimbursement processor, payment is expected on Nov. 7. Shelly Hoy said the county has been paying claims on the stated schedule and expects the DFC claim to follow that same timing, though federal approvals are not guaranteed.
A motion to approve the DFC grant coordinator contract with Don Nelson passed with the board’s assent.
