CMCSS honors New Providence Middle School RAMP designation and outgoing board member Herbert Nelson

Later in the meeting, the board presented a framed group photo and a certificate to Herbert Nelson in recognition of his service on the school board from 2019 until August 2025. The presenter noted Nelson served as board chair, earned the Tennessee School Boards Association Level 4 boardsmanship award and served on the 2022 board that was named Tennessee School Board of the Year.
The board's remarks described Nelson as a longtime advocate for teachers, families and students, noting in particular his focus on students with special needs. The item was presented as a ceremonial recognition; no formal policy or action accompanied the presentations.
