The Corte Madera Town Council unanimously approved Council member Beckman’s remote participation at its Oct. 7 session and then adjourned to closed session to discuss possible anticipated litigation and public employment regarding the town attorney.
Council member Beckman told the council, “I am participating remotely due to travel to the League of California City's annual conference in Long Beach, where I am a voting delegate for the town of Corte Madera.” Councilmember Beckman also confirmed there was no one over the age of 18 at his remote location, saying, “I do not.”
A staff member told the council there were no attendees online for oral public comment but said the town had received written public comments that were posted on the town website and shared with the council. Following the roll call and the remote-participation approval vote, Mayor Rovasio said the council would adjourn to a closed session covering “conference with legal counsel and possible anticipated litigation” and “public employment regarding the town attorney.”
The roll-call vote to allow Beckman to participate remotely was recorded as follows: Council member Andrews — yes; Council member Beckman — yes; Council member Cancisa — yes; Vice Mayor Thomas — yes; Mayor Rovasio — yes. The clerk announced, “The motion carries.”
The council recessed into closed session and stated it would return for the regular meeting at 6:30 p.m.
