Staff told the council the equipment targeted for replacement had reached the end of its useful life and that the city budgeted just over $600,000 for the purchases in the current fiscal year. Public-works staff described the planned acquisitions as a backhoe, backhoe loader, crack-sealing machine, and a hook-lift truck with attachments; staff also showed photos of older vehicles, including a 1993 Chevrolet pickup, proposed for disposal.
Resolution 1399-0825 authorizes the city manager to sign purchase orders for vehicles and equipment adopted in the fiscal-year equipment and rental fund. After a motion and second, council adopted the resolution by voice vote.
Resolution 1400-0825 declares specified vehicles and equipment surplus and authorizes disposal. Council discussed that the department's policy requires council approval for items over $10,000 and that staff included some sub-$10,000 items in the packet for transparency. Staff reported that procurement through state contracting yielded prices approximately $136,000 under the budgeted amount.
