Cochise County Sheriff's Office readies charity ride, fundraisers and community outreach

Danos said the Cochise County Sheriff's Charity Ride is set for Nov. 1 and that the department expects more than 500 riders. "The sheriff's department holds no money on this. I mean, what I mean by that is we take no percentage of the money for admin fees. What we collect, 100% goes back into a charity," Danos said.
He highlighted related local fundraising efforts: a carne asada sale in Douglas organized by Sergeant Davidson that raises money for Douglas-area schools and scholarships; and a large Can-Am vehicle raffle that the sheriff said has drawn strong ticket sales and already contributed substantially to the ride's funds. Danos described the Can-Am prize as a roughly $40,000 vehicle and said many sponsors have contributed to the effort.
Other community engagements noted included the Fallen Heroes memorial ride that stopped at a memorial in front of the Sierra Vista substation and Shop with a Cop programs in Douglas and Benson. Danos also encouraged listeners to buy charity-ride tickets online or show up the day of the ride to participate.
Ending: The sheriff framed the fundraisers as recycled community support — money raised funds local charities and school programs — and encouraged residents to attend and contribute.
