At its Sept. 25 meeting, the Lake Charles Harbor and Terminal District received financial and operational briefings showing $5.2 million in revenue for August 2025 and recent state and federal recovery payments totaling about $12 million received in September.
Cameron Lambert, reporting the August financials, said the port generated $5,200,000 in revenue for the month, about $200,000 favorable to budget. Lambert said expenses totaled about $2,800,000, roughly $400,000 favorable to budget, and nonoperating revenues were about $500,000, $100,000 favorable to budget. He said cash flow for the month was $2,800,000 and that fixed assets increased by about $69.2 million while construction-in-progress decreased by about $20 million as projects completed.
Port finance and administration staff said the $7.5 million GOSEP payment repeatedly discussed in previous meetings was received in September and, combined with an additional roughly $4.5 million in capital-outlay and port-priority funds, produced approximately $12 million in receipts that month. Mister Landry said the $7.5 million was not included on the August balance sheet because it arrived in September.
Operations Director Mister Henderson summarized recent cargo handling: multiple cement ships (about 160,000 tons reported across several calls), barges and shipments of alumina hydrate, pilings, calcine, petroleum coke and other cargoes. Henderson and cargo staff also listed scheduled inbound vessels and cargo types for upcoming weeks.
Dennis from cargo and trade reported active business development efforts including a USDA rice bid (about 8,000 tons) and talks with a company called Interoceanic about bimonthly shipments of roughly 20,020 tons per vessel. He also said the port submitted property for a project named Obsidian Bridal being pursued via LED, described as a U.S. company looking to manufacture ammunition; staff are preparing for an industry conference next week.
The board also heard from vendors and service providers: Fitz Robert Aaron of Marine Labs said his company had deployed sensors in the Calcasieu Ship Channel to support pilot and marine operations, and Joey Bourgeois of VLS Industrial Services introduced his company’s vacuum and marine services.
Board members asked procedural and follow-up questions; staff indicated the port will continue to track bond interest savings, completed projects and incoming grant funds.
