Bradford County fair board votes to hire Farley Hutchinson as fair manager

The Bradford County Agricultural Fair Association voted to hire Farley Hutchinson as the fair manager, the association said during its Oct. 28 meeting. Hutchinson, who identified herself as the director of events for the Ronald McDonald House in Gainesville and a resident of Union County, told the board she brings event marketing, vendor management and community-partnership experience. "I have a passion for preserving the future of American agriculture," she said during her presentation. Hutchinson described past events she managed, including fundraisers that raised tens of thousands of dollars, and said she wants to expand youth leadership, career-development programming and year-round use of the fairgrounds.
Board members said the executive board conducted an interview process using a written scoring rubric. A board member summarized the process as a set of scored interview questions that were tallied to produce a top candidate; the transcript records the motion to hire and a second before a voice vote. The association flagged two next steps: the candidate's contract remains under negotiation, and the appointment will be presented to the county commission for final approval the following night.
During the presentation Hutchinson outlined operational goals for the fairgrounds including expanded community events, stronger sponsor relationships and improved marketing. "I want to build a reputation of excellence for the fairgrounds through exceptional service, efficient operation, and positive relationship," she said.
The board voted by voice to approve the nomination. The meeting record does not list individual vote counts; the minutes show the motion was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. Association leaders said the candidate must appear before the Bradford County commission for its vote and that the manager's contract must be finalized after both boards approve the nomination.
Hutchinson said she has worked with diverse partners and intends to grow attendance and third‑party events at the fairgrounds if appointed. The association will place the completed contract on its agenda once county approval and contract terms are finalized.
