Lisa Holmes, chair of the Farmington–Farmington Hills Education Foundation, updated the board on Oct. 14 that the nonprofit has raised and distributed more than $400,000 since 2012. Holmes said the foundation granted more than $18,000 in classroom grants during the 2024–25 school year and facilitated about $25,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors.
Holmes described the foundation's board composition (12 members) and highlighted recent additions, named community volunteers who fill leadership roles, and announced the foundation's primary fundraising event, Toast Education, scheduled for Nov. 7 at the Meridian. The foundation supports classroom programs, scholarships and community funds such as a music memorial fund at North Farmington High School that was added in the past year.
Trustees thanked Holmes for taking the chair role and encouraged community participation in the Nov. 7 fundraiser. Holmes said the foundation seeks to increase community awareness and fundraising so that more dollars can flow back to classrooms and students.
The board received the update; no fiscal actions or formal votes related to the foundation were taken at the Oct. 14 meeting.
