County reports two grant updates: $306,000 child support award and $107,681 DUI-prosecution grant

County staff reported two routine grant updates to commissioners.
The auditor/child-support office said the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) calculated a child-support enforcement pass-through grant (CFDA/assistance listing number referenced in briefing) and awarded $306,000 for calendar year 2026, the same level received in calendar 2025. Staff said the award is typically reimbursed through periodic submissions and that accepted funds are deposited into the county general fund; a resolution to accept the state grant will be placed on an upcoming agenda.
Separately, the prosecuting attorney27s office said it received a grant administered by the Washington Association of Prosecuting Attorneys to fund a deputy dedicated to rush-filing charges against repeat DUI offenders. The grant covers a July 122June 30 budget year and amounts to $107,681 in salary and benefits. Staff said they will report quarterly on program results and return with the contract or resolution to accept the funds.
Next steps: staff will present formal acceptance resolutions to the board for the DSHS child-support grant and for the WAPA DUI-prosecution grant in upcoming legislative materials.
