Monroeville free clinic seeks community support, promotes Oct. 18 fundraiser

Representatives of the Sheep Incorporated free clinic told council Tuesday that the volunteer-run clinic provides no-cost primary care services to uninsured residents and is seeking community support and publicity ahead of an Oct. 18 fundraising gala.
Speaker John Mulgrave described the clinic’s volunteer staff — he said the organization has "42 volunteers, doctors, nurses, and physician's assistants" — and said the group had raised more than $250,000 and operates nine exam rooms in renovated space at the former Penn Hills YMCA. Mulgrave said the clinic also runs a second site at the Reclamation Church community center on Tillbrook Road that serves patients on Tuesday evenings; the Monroeville Rotary provided a chairlift to make that location accessible.
Mulgrave said the clinic’s fundraiser, the Sheep Incorporated gala, is scheduled for Oct. 18 at the Stratagos Banquet Center and will feature a live auction and keynote speaker John Colbert. He asked council members to consider attending and to spread the word; municipal staff offered to publish the event information through municipal communication channels and the municipal meeting TV feed.
Mulgrave also asked for suggestions for grant or philanthropic avenues, noting the possible Monroeville Foundation as a funding route, and provided the clinic’s website as sheepclinic.org for additional information.
Council members and staff said they would help publicize the event and distribute flyers, and offered to put information on their broadcast channels. No formal municipal financial request was made during the meeting.
