"I won't be voting in accordance with this motion," Pietro said, stating concern that the action could set an unwanted precedent.
Eric Sansom, the petitioner for 1101 West, addressed the council during the public-comment period. He said the three-year entitlement process had been frustrating and described the difficulty of developing small projects in the city's west side, which he described as "some of the most disenfranchised people here in Salt Lake City." He said he had sought meetings with council members and pursued variance and other administrative processes without success.
