City Parks and Recreation staff announced the class of 2025 for the Wall of Fame and previewed several community outreach events during the board's Oct. 16 meeting.
Thomas, a Parks and Recreation staff member, named the inductees: coach Chris Recht (recognized for nearly 25 years of coaching in Milton), Juan and Katie Salas (former HYA presidents and long-time volunteers), Maureen Reddy Wales (noted for work in special-needs programming across North Fulton) and David Winsnes (credited with helping start the Eagle Sticks program). Staff said a public induction ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 25 at 11 a.m.
Staff also outlined outreach events and volunteer opportunities: an event at Broadwell Pavilion called "Carbon and Crabapple" on Oct. 25 from 4 to 7 p.m., a volunteer appreciation dinner on Nov. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall (RSVP requested), and a veterans breakfast on Nov. 8 at 9 a.m. in Council Chambers. Thomas said Saint Francis High School and Milton High School will run senior service days to assist with maintenance and cleanup at city parks in October and November.
Staff reminded the board that holiday programming planning is underway and said more details will be provided at the November meeting.
