The council's action, taken after a public hearing and discussion about design, canopy height and neighborhood compatibility, permits freestanding canopies with a highest point of about 19 feet and 16 feet of clearance beneath, and allows a 9‑square‑foot outdoor retail/storage area for propane or similar vending adjacent to the convenience store. Councilmembers adopted an added condition requiring canopy columns to be clad with stucco and brick to better match the building.
