Waste Connections reports transition progress, offers household hazardous-waste pickup for Cibolo residents

Waste Connections, the city’s contracted solid-waste provider, updated the Cibolo City Council on service performance and on a household hazardous-waste (HHW) pick-up program available to residents.
Zach Ryan, Solid Waste staff liaison, introduced Mac (Matt) Clark, Waste Connections’ operations manager, who said the company had been working closely with city staff during the transition and that safety performance has been strong ("0 accidents," Clark said). Clark said crews had collected more than 1,000 tons of household waste in August, roughly 200 tons of recycling and more than 100 tons of brush and bulk material.
Ryan and Clark highlighted a paid HHW collection service available to Cibolo residents. The service provides a mailed collection kit and scheduled pickup: residents call a listed phone number (+1-804-497-587) to arrange a collection; on collection day residents place packaged HHW at the door for pickup. City staff said the contractor paid for a community newspaper insert to inform residents about the program.
Council members praised the company’s communication with city staff and praised the safety record while noting some operational wrinkles remain during the transition and that staff continue to work on routing and service-detail issues.
The city requested that Waste Connections continue to report operational metrics and to provide a schedule for resolving outstanding transition issues.
