Local business and civic groups announce events, grant match and candidate forums

Maggie Titterington used the public‑comment period on Sept. 9 to update the council on a series of business and community events and a local grant match opportunity.
Titterington said the State of Education event is scheduled for next Tuesday, that more than 200 RSVPs had been received and that organizers expect to fill the venue’s capacity of about 240 attendees. She said Steele and Clemens culinary programs will provide lunch and that local colleges and the school district plan brief updates.
Titterington announced a Sept. 18 business mixer at Santicos co‑hosted by Pilgrim Mortgage and Cruise Planners and encouraged attendance. She also described a local matching grant — referenced in the meeting as a program that can match up to $15,000 toward infrastructure and expenses for participating businesses — and said city predevelopment staff had met with Discovery Church and two businesses to explain the application and process.
Titterington said the city will host a “Meet the Candidates” forum for city offices on Oct. 15 at the Cibolo Community Center from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and that a school board forum is scheduled Oct. 8 at the Schertz Civic Center at the same time.
No formal council action was taken during the public‑comment period on the announcements; the remarks were informational.
